Selman

Set to open its doors in January 2012, the intimate Moorish style palace was inspired by one man’s passion and love for the beauty of purebred Arabian horses. The Selman will be home to a private collection of 16 Arabian horses, including 10 thoroughbreds and six horses which can be hired by guests for trekking through the desert.

After three years of intense construction under the direction of Grace Leo and her team, the privately owned Selman will offer 56 rooms and suites and five private ryads complete with a private garden, pool and butler service. The high profile French designer Jacques Garcia (who was behind the renovation of Mamounia in Marrakech, Hôtel Costes in Paris, la Reserve in Geneva and the Hotel Metropole in Monte Carlo) directed the overall design of the property creating a Moorish atmosphere with a rich palette and meticulously detailed mosaic patterns throughout using the best local artisans.

The Selman will offer two restaurants, one fine dining with a signature chef and one all-day dining restaurant, the ‘S’ Pavillion which overlooks the paddocks where the prize acclaimed horses roam freely. The restaurants will also be accompanied by a library bar which extends into an open terrace and the main pool bar. Wellness guru Dominique Chenot will manage the spa with 15 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, hammam, Turkish bath, sauna and gym.
